The Gaslight Anthem angered by sexual harassment incidents at comeback gigs

The Gaslight Anthem are working with authorities to investigate reports of sexual assault incidents in the crowd at their comeback shows.
The U.S. rockers returned to the stage after a three-year hiatus earlier this year for their The ’59 Sound 10th anniversary tour – but have been left angry after some fans complained to them about harassment and assault.
In a series of posts on Twitter on Wednesday (29Aug18), the band wrote that they would not tolerate any sexual misconduct from concertgoers and are in the process of speaking to venue bosses and law enforcement to help them catch those responsible.
“To our Gaslight family: We’ve been angered and saddened to hear reports of sexual assault and harassment in the audience at our shows”, their message reads. “From the very beginning of this band, we have strived to create a positive and safe environment for our fans. This kind of abhorrent behavior can not and will not be tolerated at our shows.”
The group, who hail from New Jersey, did not highlight any specific incidents but advised those affected to contact the activist group Safe Gigs For Women.
They also warned that harassment at concerts is a growing problem.
“It’s clear that this disturbing trend is on the rise in our industry, and that ignoring or dismissing the problem sends a very clear message to perpetrators that they can get away with their behavior,” they added. “As a result, we want to help to shine a light on the issue and ask our fans to do the same. We’ve reached out to the authorities and the venues that were involved in these incidents.”
The Gaslight Anthem reunited in May to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their 2008 album The ’59 Sound, while frontman Brian Fallon also released a solo album in February.
