Here’s some #HollyGOOD news: Tiger Woods is alive and recovering after a scary car accident yesterday!
As of this morning, Tiger Woods is confirmed to be awake, responsive, and recovering after sustaining serious leg injuries in a single-car crash on Tuesday. Despite two leg fractures and a shattered ankle that required emergency surgery, the golf pro is expected to survive the car crash that occurred on a notoriously dangerous strip of roadway roughly 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. No members of Tiger Woods’ family were in the car at the time.

Tiger Woods: both talented and humble
Woods, now 45, is one of the most recognizable celebrity athletes in the world. Just yesterday, he gave a VIP golf lesson to NBA superstar Dwyane Wade:
In his Instagram video, Wade describes Tiger Woods as “the G.O.A.T.” Although the NBA superstar is not the first to call him the G.O.A.T., Tiger is ever so humble as he denies the title.
If you look at his golf career, you can’t help but call him the G.O.A.T. Tiger holds numerous golf records including being tied for first in PGA tournaments and second in men’s major championships. He has won the Masters tournament 5 times, first in 1997 and then again surprisingly in 2019.
Tiger Woods also holds the titles of father, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
Off the green, Tiger is a father to two children––Charlie Axel Woods and Sam Alexis Woods––with ex-wife Elin Nordegren. Tiger’s daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, is the oldest of his two children, and his son Charlie seems to be stepping into his famous father’s golfing shoes with an impressive golf performance in December 2020.
When he’s not fathering Sam and Charlie, Tiger’s professional career has expanded beyond playing golf to include entrepreneurial endeavors including a golf-course design business, a live events business called TGR Live, and The Woods, a restaurant in Jupiter, FL where he now lives.
On the course earnings over his career are estimated to exceed $1 billion and the combination of those earnings with his more recent entrepreneurial endeavors puts his estimated net current net worth estimated at $800 million. While it may be widely known that Tiger owns a mega-yacht named Privacy and flies almost exclusively privately, he’s also spent the last 25 years giving back through TGR Foundation, a non-profit centered on providing education programs to youth. His official Twitter account thanked fans for supporting the foundation just two days ago as he presented the trophy at The Genesis Invitational.
Congrats to @maxhoma23 on an amazing playoff finish and for making LA proud. Thank you to @GenesisUSA and everyone who has supported @TGRFound this year. Riv is a very special place and we already can’t wait to be back. pic.twitter.com/ew8S76L7gg

Regardless of his talent, Tiger Woods is still only human.
Though his challenges have widely been reported over the years, he always seems to make a comeback, and we’re glad that he’ll have the chance to recover yet again following this week’s car accident.
After major personal hardship, Woods rebuilt his golf career and came back to win the Master’s tournament surprisingly in 2019. The golf pro rebuilt his family relationships, too. It’s widely reported that Woods and ex-wife Elin Nordegren remain a united family, happily co-parenting their two children with joint custody.
With celebrities like Tiger Woods, it can be easy to forget that they’re still human. Despite out-of-this-world talent and wealth beyond our wildest dreams, celebrities can make mistakes just like any regular person. Just like any regular person, celebrities can suffer loss and injury due to accidents out of their control. A celeb like Tiger Woods is proof that you can learn from your mistakes, own up to them, and grow past them.
We’re glad that Woods will get another chance to recover from one of life’s unexpected events. Moments like these, we’re reminded that we can’t take anything for granted.
Jada Pinkett Smith, who was with him earlier this week, said it best:
Prayers up for the GOAT @TigerWoods who was in an accident this morning. Was just with him yesterday. Don’t take not even a MOMENT for granted! I know you’re good because your Tiger within is a beast!!!
