Vince Staples donates ‘retirement fund’ to hometown library

Vince Staples has closed a crowdfunding campaign allowing his critics to pay him to retire and donated funds to a library in his hometown.
Staples launched the GoFundMe page last week (end11Mar18), seeking to raise $2 million (£1.44 million) for his early retirement, however the move was later revealed as a promotional stunt and he only made $2,022 (£1,460).
On Wednesday, Vince announced that he will be giving all of the money back to donors, but will personally match the amount raised as a contribution to the Michelle Obama Library in his hometown of Long Beach, California.
“Seeing as we clearly won’t reach our goal of 2 million dollars, I am cancelling the gofundme and refunding all the little people with big voices. I expect to hear no further slander,” the 24-year-old rapper tweeted.
“I am also personally matching the donations made and donating the full amount to the Michelle Obama library of Norf (sic) Long Beach… in honor of you citch a** n**gas. I love you all, good day.”
Announcing his campaign, Vince issued his critics with an ultimatum to pay him to retire or “Get the f**k off my d**k”. However, this was later revealed to be the name of his new single.
