Weinstein’s social networking site hacked

Authorities in France, with the assistance of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested two French men on Wednesday (16Sep09) after they managed to break into Weinstein’s exclusive social networking site, aSmallWorld.

The computer experts allegedly demanded a $1 million (£667,000) bribe to keep them from divulging the names on the member database, reports the New York Post gossip column Page Six.

An inside source has declined to reveal the hackers’ identities, adding, “We continue to make security a priority and have reduced the risk of a future security breach.”

In May 2006, the moviemaker’s The Weinstein Company invested in the invite-only network, which boasts about 320,000 members.
