Dave Keuning doesn’t know if he’ll rejoin The Killers

The Killers guitarist Dave Keuning doesn’t know if he’ll rejoin the band after dropping out of their recent tour.
The Las Vegas indie band stunned fans last year when they announced that Dave would be joining bassist Mark Stoermer in no longer taking part in tours, as he wanted to spend more time with his 13-year-old son Kyler.
However, the 42-year-old has been working on a solo album, Prismism, and has now revealed that he felt underappreciated as a songwriter in the group and doesn’t know if he’ll return.
“I was writing all these ideas for songs,” Dave tells British newspaper The Times. “I had shown them to The Killers, but they always fell to the bottom of the pile. So I felt, well, I may as well do something. And it was fun to realise I could have complete control over them, having very little control in The Killers.”
Asked if he still feels like a member of the band he adds: “I don’t even think I know. As of now, I am in the band. I am sending demos, offering ideas. It is too early to know if they will stick. I won’t do any touring any time soon.”
The Mr. Brightside hitmaker, who recorded Prismism in his home studio in San Diego, California during breaks from his parenting duties, admits that his dream of being a rock star wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
“All I ever wanted was to play guitar in a successful band, but it took its toll in more ways than one,” he explains. “Mentally, physically, doing the same thing over and over again…I needed balance back in my life.”
The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. shared a photo of themselves in the studio earlier this month (Dec18), but did not reveal whether Dave or Mark would be joining them for a new record.
