Dion DiMucci lands new Broadway show

Dion Dimucci’s songs are set to become the soundtrack for a new Broadway show named after his most famous song.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is behind the latest jukebox musical heading for the New York stage.
The Wanderer: Based On The Life and Music Of Dion will premiere at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse next year (20), before hitting Broadway.
Playwright Charles Messina will write the production’s book and Kenneth Ferrone, who recently produced the TV version of Rent, will direct.
Dion, whose hits also include Runaround Sue and Teenager in Love, says, “If you told me as a young man that one day my journey from The Bronx to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame would become a musical, I would not have believed you. It’s only 12 miles from Belmont Avenue to Broadway. It shouldn’t have taken this long!”
The production will chronicle the singer’s career and battles with addiction.
Dion was inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
