James Bourne writes Busted jukebox musical

Busted star James Bourne has co-written a jukebox musical about the British band’s time in the spotlight.
The guitarist/singer has co-written the musical What I Go To School For, named after the pop rockers’ 2002 debut single, which will feature their hit songs including Air Hostess, Crashed the Wedding and Year 3000.
“The show quite accurately tells (the) story of the band from 2001 to 2005, though some characters are real and some characters are made-up versions of real people,” Bourne says, according to BBC News.
He has teamed up with writer/composer Elliot Davis to create the show. They previously worked together on the musical Loserville, which opened in London’s West End in 2012 and was nominated for an Olivier Award.
They hope to recreate the same success with What I Go To School For and are taking the same route as Loserville by working on it with members of the Youth Music Theatre (YMT) in Brighton, England, who will perform it at the Theatre Royal from Thursday (18Aug16) to Saturday (20Aug16).
“Eventually it would be nice to open in the West End after we’ve had more time to develop,” Bourne adds.
Bourne reunited with his two bandmates Charlie Simpson and Matt Willis last year (15), 10 years after Simpson left, and they embarked on a reunion tour earlier this year (16) and are currently working on a new album.
