Aaron Carter: ‘I’m not racist’

Aaron Carter has fired back at criticism suggesting the remarks that got him beaten up at a gig in Illinois at the weekend (17Feb17) were racist.
A member of the singer’s support act ILL State ran onstage and punched Aaron twice after the grown-up child star sneered “Bye Felipe” at the end of the band’s set.
Reports suggest the Hispanic rapper felt sure Carter’s flippant remark was racially charged.
Aaron, who was hospitalised following the attack at The Looney Bin in Bradley, assured fans he was fine via Twitter on Saturday (18Feb17), while his publicist insisted he wasn’t using a racial slur, adding, “His response to his attacker was a pop culture slang phrase equivalent to the phrase ‘Bye Felicia’, also found in the Urban Dictionary.”
Carter has since returned to social media to respond to criticism and accusations of racism.
“(I have) a 100% Mexican manager and she is basically my adopted mom,” he tweeted. “And my ex girlfriend Myra 3rd generation Mexican (sic)… I also learned Spanish so I could speak with her parents who weren’t fluent in English.”
