Aaron Taylor-Johnson to play Scottish king in new historical drama

Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has signed on to portray Scottish king James Douglas in a new Netflix movie.
The Nocturnal Animals star will go back in time to battle with Chris Pine’s Robert the Bruce in Scottish independence drama Outlaw King, according to Deadline.
Ironically, neither of the leads in David Mackenzie’s film are Scottish – Taylor-Johnson was born in High Wycombe, England and Pine is an American, from Los Angeles.
The new film will reconnect Pine with his Hell or High Water director.
Douglas and Robert the Bruce teamed up to fight King Edward I’s armies in a battle to regain Scotland.
Mel Gibson touched on the historical legends’ story in Braveheart, in which Angus MacFadyen portrayed Robert the Bruce.
