ABBA reunite to launch virtual reality project

Swedish pop supergroup Abba are reuniting to work on a virtual reality experience with music mogul Simon Fuller.
The Waterloo singers, who parted ways in 1982, have regrouped professionally for the first in more than 30 years to work on a “groundbreaking venture” that will “utilise the very latest in digital and virtual reality technology”.
Details of the project are currently under wraps but the quartet – Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – has partnered with the former Spice Girls manager Fuller and Universal Music Group bosses to help maintain “the authenticity and integrity of the band’s original vision” and introduce the ABBA experience to a new generation of fans, who will be able to see and hear the group in a “previously unimagined” way.
“We’re inspired by the limitless possibilities of what the future holds and are loving being a part of creating something new and dramatic here,” Andersson said. “A time machine that captures the essence of who we were. And are.”
“The creativity and ideas flowing from the members of Abba over the past few months have filled me with great excitement,” Fuller added. “We are exploring a new technological world, with virtual reality and artificial intelligence at the forefront, that will allow us to create new forms of entertainment and content we couldn’t have previously imagined.”
The full details of the new project will be announced in 2017.
All four members of the group, which formed in Stockholm in 1972, reportedly reunited at a party in the city in June (16) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band and they performed the track The Way Old Friends Do – their first joint performance in 30 years.
They also appeared together in January (16) to help Ulvaeus launched a restaurant.
