Actor and singer Alex Brightman bags Beetlejuice for pre-Broadway run

Broadway’s School of Rock star Alex Brightman has landed the coveted role of Beetlejuice for a new stage musical.
He’ll take on the undead character Michael Keaton brought to life in Tim Burton’s quirky 1988 comedy when director Alex Timbers’ pre-Broadway show hits the National Theatre stage in Washington, D.C. in October (18), ahead of a 4 November opening night.
Brightman will be joined by Sophia Anne Caruso, who wowed critics in the Off-Broadway David Bowie musical Lazarus. She’ll take on Lydia, the role Winona Ryder played in the film.
The musical adaptation will feature an original score by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown & Anthony King.
