The movie adaptation of stage musical Annie has been given a release boost – it will open in America five days before Christmas Day, 2014. The film, starring Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Cameron Diaz, was scheduled to hit the big screen on 25 December, 2014, but studio executives have moved the release date up to avoid clashing with other 2015 Oscar hopefuls, like Disney musical Into the Woods and Night at the Museum 3.
Instead, Annie will be up against The Hobbit: There and Back.
