Britt Ekland: ‘Modern Bond girls are too politically correct’

The actress, who played Mary Goodnight opposite Sir Roger Moore in 1974’s The Man With The Golden Gun, is convinced the newer films don’t offer the same “spectacular” parts for women.

She tells British newspaper the Daily Express, “Today the Bond Girls are very modern women – we were all sex kittens. But 40 years ago times were different and now the audience demands a politically correct Bond Girl.

“We are never called ‘Bond Women’ mind you, it’s still ‘Bond Girls’ but today they are much more sophisticated. I wouldn’t want to be a Bond Girl now because there is lots you can’t do and say. Bond Girls have been a long-lasting legacy – the image of them back then was so spectacular and today it’s just a good actress playing a good role.

“I like the old-fashioned way when everything you did on screen was filmed in the moment… Then it was all bikinis, blonde hair and luscious lips.”
