Cardi B hits back at trademark critics

Cardi B has fired back at social media critics after filing paperwork to trademark her signature catchphrase.
The I Like It hitmaker recently applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to claim ownership of her quirky “Okurrr” remark, which she plans to use on promotional goods like paper cups and posters, and even print it on clothing, including T-shirts, hoodies, and pants, according to paperwork obtained by The Blast.
Some people weren’t impressed by Cardi’s bid to cash in on her popular comment and attacked the hip-hop star online, but now the mother-of-one has lashed out at her detractors, insisting she has every right to make money off of something she came up with – because she is always asked to repeat the phrase wherever she goes.
“Hoes is mad because I trademark ‘Okurrr’?” the rapper questioned in a video post on Instagram. “Let me tell you something. Every single time I go to a corporate meeting, these folks be like, ‘Oh my god, can we please hear you say ‘Okurrr’?’
“Every time I go to a TV show: ‘Hey, hey, can you teach me how to say ‘Okurrr’?’ Every time I go do a commercial: ‘Hey, can you finish it off with ‘Okurrr’? You think I ain’t gonna profit off this s**t?! B**ch, white folks do it all the motherf**king time, so you gonna be mad at me cos I wanna get some motherf**king money?”
Cardi, 26, went on to declare that she would be making moves to “secure all the f**king bags” (make the most of her earning power) while she still can, and defiantly concluded by stating, “Let me give you a secret, too. It’s 2019 b**ches, there’s a lot of ways to get rich. You’ve got to get yourself some business, stop minding motherf**king others (sic).”
