Carol Decker suffering from osteoporosis

T’Pau star Carol Decker is battling bone disease osteoporosis.
The 1980s pop star was diagnosed with the condition, which causes bones to become more brittle and fragile, last year (15) after a fractured ankle took longer than expected to heal.
Decker, 58, is now taking supplements in a bid to slow down the disease’s progression, but she is refusing to let the health crisis rule her life.
“I have osteoporosis in my spine,” she tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “I fractured my ankle last year and because it took so long to heal they gave me a DEXA (X-ray) bone scan. The doctor said, ‘I’m really sorry to tell you but you have a really high score for osteoporosis’. That, to me, is a little old lady disease.
“It doesn’t hurt and my chiropractor said I should just live my life and not put off anything like skiing. I take alendronic acid supplements once a week and massive calcium tablets the size of dinner plates to help rebuild the bone marrow.”
The veteran singer insists she has adopted a healthy diet and exercise regime, and hopes to stay fit and well for as long as possible.
“I rattle with other vitamins and supplements too,” she adds. “I take Propax Gold multivitamins, red krill oil for my joints, and coenzyme Q10. My husband is a chef with great nutritional knowledge so we eat well. Cakes and crisps don’t interest me and my biggest vice is a glass of wine. I’m in the gym for an hour at least three times a week.”
