Charlize Theron’s children encourage her to dress like a ‘mermaid’

Charlize Theron’s two children often give her advice on her red carpet choices.

The actress made a glamorous appearance at the 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night (13Jan19), where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for movie Tully, and stunned in a one-shoulder, metallic Givenchy dress.

Speaking about her outfits during a chat at the star-studded bash, Charlize opened up about how her little ones, August and Jackson, love to share their opinions on her ensembles.

“Oh, yeah, definitely,” the 43-year-old told Entertainment Tonight when a reporter asked if her kids are interested in what she wears. “They love it. They love saying things just for the sake of saying them, it makes no sense. There’s usually a throwback to a mermaid or a unicorn. It makes no sense, but we just go like this.”

Charlize is famous for her many onscreen transformations, including her Oscar-winning turn in 2003 film Monster.

For her next big role, she is to portray former NBC journalist Megyn Kelly in Jay Roach’s upcoming film about former Fox News head Roger Ailes. In recent photos from the set, Charlize was seen wearing a white T-shirt and jeans, with her hair styled in the same manner as Megyn, while in another, she was seen sporting a black dress similar to the style the journalist often wore while presenting The Kelly File.

“Just a great team of people, a great script and I think a very important story for where we are right now and this movement for women,” Charlize commented of the project, which tells the story of the women at Fox News who stood up to the toxic atmosphere of harassment and intimidation. “This story – the year and a half, two-year span that we cover – was the catalyst in many ways for where we are today and where we’re going in the future, so that to me felt like an important thing to tap into and also just really entertaining.”

Last October, Megyn’s show, Megyn Kelly Today, was cancelled in the wake of her controversial blackface comments.
