Corey Taylor dedicates song to Chester Bennington at emotional gig

Rocker Corey Taylor fought back tears on Thursday (20Jul17) as he dedicated a song to tragic singer Chester Bennington at a show in Massachusetts.
The Linkin Park star committed suicide by hanging at his California home on Thursday morning, and Corey was one of the first to comment on the shocking news, simply tweeting, “Jesus No…”
The tragedy hit headlines hours before Taylor and his Stone Sour bandmates took the stage with Korn in Mansfield, and the vocalist decided to salute Bennington’s memory during the emotional gig.
“We all lost somebody today,” Corey told the audience before performing Through Glass. “I lost a friend… and this was one of his favourite songs. And I wanna dedicate (it) to him. Chester, we will f**king miss you.”
Headliners Korn also paid their respects to Bennington with a brief rendition of 4 U.
As he introduced the tune, frontman Jonathan Davis said, “I want to dedicate this song tonight to all our homeboy (sic), Chester Bennington y’all. Y’all make some noise for Chester, we love you brother!”
The concert dedication took place hours after Korn guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch lashed out at Bennington, a father of six, for taking the “cowardly way out” in a Facebook rant about suicide.
Welch has since deleted the post and apologised for his outburst, insisting he was an emotional wreck when he made the headline-grabbing criticism.
“I didn’t mean to sound insensitive about Chester,” he wrote on Twitter shortly before Korn’s gig. “Just dealing with a range of emotions today. Love you Chester…”
