Country drummer Hugh Wright dies

Country musician Hugh Wright has died, aged 63.
The Boy Howdy co-founder passed away from natural causes at his home in Montana on 25 September (15), reports MusicRow.com.
The Iowa native launched his music career in the 1970s after moving to Los Angeles, where he played with blues icon John Lee Hooker.
In 1990, he founded Boy Howdy with singer/bassist Jeffrey Steele and brothers Cary and Larry Park, and they rose to prominence with their debut single, a cover of Civil War standard When Johnny Comes Marching Home. The success of the track landed them a record deal with Curb Records in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992, when they released their first album Welcome to Howdywood.
However, tragedy struck that May (92), when Wright was run over as he attempted to aid an injured motorist on a Dallas, Texas highway. He broke both legs and suffered a brain injury which required intensive therapy as he learned to walk, play drums and speak again. The accident forced him to take a break from the band until 1993, when Boy Howdy enjoyed hits with tracks like She’d Give Anything and They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That Anymore.
The group went on hiatus in 1995 and officially disbanded in 1996.
