David Tennant bringing Doctor Who back for Family Guy

British actor David Tennant is reprising his role as Doctor Who for animated series Family Guy.
The Scottish star, who played the 10th TV Time Lord between 2005 and 2010, has landed a cameo in character for an upcoming episode of Seth MacFarlane’s irreverent series about an all-American family with a talking dog and baby.
The news was revealed over the weekend (23-24Jul16) at San Diego Comic-Con in California. Tennant will voice the Doctor in a ‘Doctor Who Farted’ skit.
The current Doctor Who, fellow Scot Peter Capaldi, has been asked to play the time travelling character on the sci-fi drama until 2018.
Capaldi, who has been playing the Time Lord since 2014, is reportedly planning to leave after the 2017 series when Steven Moffat, the lead writer and executive producer, exits the show and is replaced by Chris Chibnall, and he recently revealed he has been asked to stay while the transition takes place.
“I’ve been asked to stay on, but it’s such a long time before I have to make that decision,” he told Britain’s Radio Times magazine. “Steven’s been wonderful, so I love working with him. Chris is fantastic and he’s a hugely talented guy. I don’t know where the show’s gonna go then. I don’t know. I have to make up my mind. I haven’t yet.”
Tennant stepped down as the Doctor when Steven replaced Russell T. Davies as showrunner in 2010. David was succeeded by Matt Smith.
The Harry Potter star also reprised his Doctor Who character for a skit on comedian Stephen Colbert’s U.S. late night show earlier this year (16).
