The screen star was shortlisted for Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 Academy Awards for her role in Doubt, and narrowly missed out on the Best Actress Oscar at last month’s ceremony (Feb12) for her lead role in The Help.
But Davis is adamant she’s glad to see the end of the annual movie honours events because they distract her from her work.
She tells Britain’s Hello! magazine, “(I’m) relieved! The awards buzz is the most nerve-racking thing and it has nothing to do with being an actor.
“After the Oscar nomination for Doubt, I went back to work in shock. You’re too busy doing all the awards promotion and you’re not acting. Then I had to go back to work, but I couldn’t remember my lines and I was overacting. It remains the worst work I’ve ever done.”
