Eagles agree to let Hotel California in Baja stay open

The owners of a Baja, California inn who clashed with rockers the Eagles have been told they can keep the Hotel California name.
Don Henley and his bandmates filed suit against the Hotel California Baja LLCA claiming they had violated the group’s rights related to their 1976 hit song.
They also accused the owners of cashing in on merchandise that suggested the band was in some way linked to the inn.
A settlement was reached earlier this week (beg15Jan18) and the bosses of the Todos Santos guesthouse have revealed they will continue to use the service mark and trademark Hotel California in Mexico.
The settlement with the Eagles was made public on Thursday, after officials at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office accepted Hotel California Baja’s request to abandon a trademark application.
The Eagles accused the owners of encouraging guests to believe the band had authorised their use of the song’s name.
