Former members of Journey and Anthrax form new band

Former Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz has formed a new heavy rock supergroup with ex-Journey drummer Deen Castronovo.
Spitz recently opened up about the project during a podcast appearance, and raved about working with Deen.
“He is one of the world’s most incredible drummers walking the planet,” he said. “Deen’s also a lead singer… 17 years in Journey, he played for Ozzy, he played on early Ted Nugent albums. I mean, it goes on, dude. He’s pulling out stuff, and I’m, like, ‘Are you kidding me, dude…? Are you crazy? I didn’t know it was you’.”
Spitz declined to reveal the identity of the new band’s frontman, but stated he and Castronovo have already written over an album’s worth of material.
This is the drummer’s first band since he was fired from Journey in 2015 amid legal and personal issues.
Deen was arrested and charged with rape, sexual abuse, and the unlawful use of a weapon following an altercation with his ex-girlfriend. He was indicted and entered rehab, and is now serving four years of probation.
At the end of 2015, he told Ultimate Classic Rock, “I’m not expecting to work for a while and if God opens that door, he’ll open that door. But I’m definitely not ready and even if somebody asked me now, I wouldn’t do it. A year from now, I don’t think I would do it. I need some time. I don’t ever want to have this happen again.”
Castronovo, a former member of rock act Bad English, joined Journey in 1998. He was dropped from the band’s summer (15) tour when news of his arrest broke.
