Gugu Mbatha-Raw awarded MBE by Prince Charles

Actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw had a date at Buckingham Palace on Thursday (01Feb18) as she was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
The Beauty and the Beast star was honoured at the investiture ceremony by Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, who divulged that he was a fan of her work on longrunning sci-fi series Doctor Who, in which she appeared back in 2007.
“It was amazing to meet him,” she told the Press Association. “He remembered that I did Doctor Who, and I was like ‘Wow, the Prince of Wales is a Doctor Who fan’.”
Gugu learned she was to be awarded an MBE for her services to drama last June (17), when her name was included in Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours list. Ed Sheeran and her Belle writer/director Amma Asante were also named as MBE recipients at the time, with Sheeran collecting his accolade in December (17).
