Injured Nicolas Cage to return to work by early June

Actor Nicolas Cage is expected to resume work on his new movie #211 by early June (17) after breaking his ankle onset last month (Apr17).
Production on the heist film had to shut down in late April (17) after Cage suffered a freak accident while shooting on location in Bulgaria.
The National Treasure star was admitted to a nearby hospital in the capital city of Sofia, but declined surgery in favour of flying back to his home in Los Angeles to undergo treatment.
Cage’s representative initially predicted he would “resume working within two weeks” after his ankle operation was made public, but he has been given a few extra weeks to recover from the injury and now producers at Millennium Films are gearing up to head back to Bulgaria to continue the shoot.
According to Deadline.com, writer/director York Alec Shackleton has rejigged the filming schedule to accommodate Cage’s extended absence, and has added Israeli actress Sapir Azulay to the cast to portray a tough police officer alongside the movie star, who will also play a cop.
#211, which refers to the police code for “robbery in progress”, also stars Amanda Cerny, Sophie Skelton, and Michael Rainey Jr. It had been pegged to hit theatres later this year (17), but it is not yet clear if the production delay will affect its 2017 release.
Cage has yet to comment on the injury, or the circumstances surrounding his accident, but he has never been one to shy away from action stunts, which he finds oddly calming.
“One of the things that’s interesting to me is I find things like caffeine and stunts actually relax me,” he previously told Metro.co.uk. “When they’re putting a bit of gel on my arm and lighting me on fire, or when I’m about to go into a high-speed car chase or rev a motorcycle up pretty fast, I find everything else around me slows down. I find it quite calming, which is an odd switch.”
