J. Cole calls for NFL boycott over Colin Kaepernick’s alleged blackballing

Rapper J.cole has called on fans to boycott America’s National Football League (NFL) over the alleged blackballing of activist player Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick, 29, is without a team this year (17) despite leading his San Francisco 49ers team to the Super Bowl in 2013, and many fans and players believe managers’ reluctance to sign him is due to his decision to “take a knee” during the U.S. national anthem to protest racial injustice.
On Friday (22Sep17) U.S. President Donald Trump called on team owners to fire players who mimicked Kaepernick’s gesture, resulting in more than a 100 players following the sports star’s lead and kneeling during the anthem before this weekend’s (23-24Sep17) games. Several NFL owners also condemned Trump’s comments and some teams skipped the anthem ceremony altogether.
In a series of posts on Twitter on Sunday (24Sep17) Cole praised players who followed his friend and took to their knees, but called on fans to stop watching games until Kaepernick is hired by a team.
“God bless every player that finds courage to kneel today,” he wrote. “But the real power comes from you deciding to not watch. Your eyes translate to advertising money for the League and it’s owners.
“Same ones who speak out against Trump today, are the same ones that denied a qualified man a job because he took a stand against injustice. You and me have the power to deny them our attention ($$ to them) until they make a wrong situation right.”
The hip-hop star also called for the appointment of an investigator approved by NFL players association chiefs to determine whether Kaepernick’s employment rights had been violated.
J. Cole, full name Jermaine Lamarr Cole, called on fans to “hurt the pockets” of NFL owners and added, “I’m not watching (the NFL) (un)til it feel(s) right.”
NFL players protesting Trump and racism received support from a number of other stars, including Stevie Wonder and Pharrell Williams, who “took a knee” during their concerts over the weekend.
