Actor/rapper Jaden Smith spent the eve of his 21st birthday feeding the homeless with his new vegan food truck initiative.
The Icon hitmaker unveiled his latest philanthropic venture, the I Love You Restaurant, in Los Angeles on Sunday (July 7, 2019), parking the mobile eatery in the city’s Skid Row neighborhood, which is notorious for its large concentration of homeless people.
Staff members handed out free, healthy meals to those in need, and, as he shared video footage of the giveaway on Instagram, Jaden revealed his hopes to provide vegan eats to others across the U.S.
“The @ILoveYouRestaurant Is A Movement That Is All About Giving People What They Deserve, Healthy, Vegan Food For Free,” he captioned one post.
“Today We Launched Our First One Day Food Truck Pop-Up in Downtown LA. Keep A Look Out Because This Is The First Of Many #JADENinc”.
Jaden, the son of actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, has also been instrumental in helping the people of Flint, Michigan, where residents have been exposed to lead-contaminated water due to a change in river source in 2014.
The youngster and his dad initially began sending crates of their JUST water products, which are packaged in paper-based cartons, to the area so locals can pick up the vital resource for free, and earlier this year (2019), Jaden launched a new mobile water filtration system, which was installed at a church in Flint.
He unveiled a second mobile unit in June 2019, which he donated to Flint residents in comedienne and fellow philanthropist Ellen DeGeneres’ name.
