Jason Momoa angered by Trump’s national monument shrinkage

Actor Jason Momoa has taken aim at U.S. President Donald Trump for rolling back federal protection for two national monuments in Utah which are sacred to Native Americans.
Trump sparked controversy on Monday (04Dec17) when he announced plans to slash the amount of land reserved for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments, allowing the newly-released territories to be used for development and agriculture.
The decision has sparked a number of protests from conservationists and members of leading Native American tribes, while bosses at outdoor clothing brand Patagonia are now preparing to launch legal action against government officials, amid claims suggesting the President doesn’t have the right to scale back such protections.
Representatives for the company, which has donated funds to help protect public lands since 1986, took to Instagram following the news to share their position with fans, posting a message which declared: “The President Stole Your Land… In an illegal move, the president just reduced the size of Bears Ears and the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monuments. This is the largest elimination of protected land in American history.”
Momoa was quick to show his support for the firm’s chiefs, reposting the message on his Instagram profile and slamming Trump.
“Trump. Stop just STOP,” the Justice League star began. “Lets protect this land for the generations to come, hands locked together standing as one against a president who doesn’t deserve his peoples (sic). Mahalo (thank you) to @patagonia and many others… for (supporting) this fight, I stand behind you.”
The Hawaiian-born star isn’t the only celebrity to speak out against Trump’s latest controversial move – actress Kerry Washington publicly expressed her gratitude for Patagonia bosses’ vow, tweeting, “Wow. Thank you @patagonia #BearsEars #GrandStaircase”, and fellow TV star Sophia Bush posted: “In an ILLEGAL move. Mr (Bulls**t Fake Embarrassing) President you will NOT get away with this. WE WILL hold you accountable. We will not allow you to destroy American land…”
