Jay Roach takes charge of Intelligent Life

Trumbo director Jay Roach is set to take over sci-fi project Intelligent Life following Ava DuVernay’s departure.
The Selma filmmaker signed on to the movie in February (16), but had to drop out of the picture just three months later due to scheduling conflicts.
Now Roach has entered talks to rewrite the script originally penned by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and his collaborator Derek Connolly, who remain onboard as producers.
He is also considering directing Intelligent Life, which follows a United Nations employee who makes contact with a beautiful woman who may be an alien while monitoring outer space.
Casting details have yet to be revealed, but Lupita Nyong’o, who had previously been tapped for a leading role, is no longer involved, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
