Keira Knightley’s kid left her exhausted on set of Official Secrets

Keira Knightley was exhausted on the set of new drama Official Secrets, because her young daughter was keeping her up at night.
The actress stepped into one of her most demanding roles as real-life Iraq War whistleblower Katharine Gun and admits she didn’t get a lot of sleep off-set.
“The weeks when I had the most work, my daughter was literally up five or six times a night between midnight and 6am,” she tells WENN.
“I think that added a particular vibe to my performance, which maybe I should thank her for – or maybe I should blame her for… That was the most difficult thing for me.”
Keira also struggled to get to the root of her character, because the real Gun proved to be a tough nut to crack.
The two women met for dinner with director Gavin Hood, and Knightley reveals she found it tough to get information from the woman she would be portraying onscreen.
“Katharine is in quite a tricky position because if you question her on it, she still is bound by the Official Secrets Act,” the actress explains. “I’m not a journalist, I’m an actress. So I didn’t feel it was my place to push her into revealing to me any more than she felt comfortable with.”
