Lauryn Hill apologises to furious European fans for gig tardiness

Lauryn Hill has apologised to her European fans after they angrily turned on her for turning up late to two concerts.
The R&B superstar, 43, has been touring the continent to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, but has infuriated fans at gigs in Brussels and Paris with her infamously poor timekeeping.
She kept fans waiting for nearly three hours until past 10.30pm at the gigs, which took place on Sunday (18Nov18) and Tuesday. In each case she was able to perform for under an hour due to local curfew rules.
The shortened gigs prompted angry boos and shouts from furious concertgoers – and Lauryn posted an apology on Facebook after the Paris gig on Tuesday.
“We apologize for the late start,” she explained. “We’re working through the kinks of moving the production to Europe, with time changes and curfew restrictions, we’ve had a few challenges in these early shows. With deep gratitude I come on stage to perform an album that means so much to so many.”
The former Fugees member went on to thank fans for their “patience” and promised not to make the same mistake at a second Paris date on Wednesday.
Her excuses cut little ice with those who attended the concerts however, with many calling the delays “unacceptable” and demanding refunds of the $57 (£44.60) ticket price. She was also accused of lacking professionalism and giving a poor performance when she did arrive on stage.
Lauryn previously apologised to fans in Atlanta, Georgia for being late for a gig back in 2016 – one of many that failed to start on time.
