Lemmy statue gets underway

A sculptor has begun work on a life-sized statue of late rocker Lemmy following a fundraising drive.
The Motorhead frontman was a regular at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Los Angeles and owners of the venue celebrated his life by holding a memorial event in January (16), weeks after his death in December (15).
Lemmy is set to be immortalised as a life-size bronze statue, in the patio area near the bar, by sculptor Travis Moore, who has waived his usual fee.
A crowdfunding page was created on Youcaring.com to raise money for the materials and has since raised more than $20,000 (£13,800), so Moore began working on the piece on Wednesday (10Feb16).
Online pictures show Moore creating a clay miniature model which will form the basis of the life-sized statue. He aims to have the project finished by May (16), according to TMZ.com.
Lemmy died days after his 70th birthday following a battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
