Mariska Hargitay’s son writes appeal letter to officials in property dispute

Mariska Hargitay’s son wrote a letter promising to play basketball “really, really, quietly” in an attempt to appeal to officials considering his parents’ property dispute.
According to the East Hampton Star, the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress’ home has a treehouse, swing set and basketball hoop that are too close to her neighbours’ property, violating the laws of East Hampton.
The treehouse roof is reportedly higher than the 14-foot limit for accessory structures in the neighbourhood, and the basketball court has allegedly been installed without obtaining permission.
August Hermann, the son of Mariska and her husband, Younger star Peter Hermann, wrote a sweet letter to officials of the East Hampton Village Zoning Board of Appeals, pledging, “I promise to play basketball really, really, really quietly,” in an attempt to keep his play area intact.
However, the news outlet reports it wasn’t enough to sway the board to legalise the structures at the home which they bought in 2010 during the meeting on Friday (20Jan17).
The East Hampton Star reports Mariska and Peter will have to move the structures so they’re not so close to their neighbour’s home.
The home was previously owned by Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke. He reportedly built the treehouse for his daughters, who include Girls star Jemima Kirke, and Mozart in the Jungle star Lola Kirke, when he lived there.
