Matt LeBlanc: ‘It takes a while to build up a rapport with co-stars’

Matt Leblanc insists it “takes a little while” to build up a rapport with co-presenters.
The ex Friends star presented the revamp of U.K. motoring programme Top Gear last year (16) alongside flame-haired petrolhead Chris Evans. But after just one series, Chris left, amid reports he and Matt didn’t get on.
Now Matt will present the show alongside Chris Harris and Rory Reid, and is hopeful the trio has what it takes to emulate the success of previous Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
“What people forget is for the three guys that were on the show before us, it took them a while to build a rapport,” he told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “This is now the first season for the three of us and it does take a little while.
“You take the three people, put them together in a room and say, ‘It’s in your interest to get along’ and everyone is open to getting along. But it takes a little while to speed up the shorthand.”
The new threesome will start filming in the studio this Wednesday (22Feb17), and Matt is feeling optimistic about their chemistry.
“What’s great is we are now getting to a point where we are really starting to click,” he smiled. “We are having so much fun together.”
