Meek Mill’s lawyers file to dismiss wrongful death lawsuit

Incarcerated rapper Meek Mill’s legal team has filed legal papers to have his wrongful death lawsuit dismissed.
The Ima Boss hitmaker was slapped with legal action from the family of Travis Ward in May (17), amid allegations his murderous song lyrics incited the violence, which resulted in the victim’s death outside the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut in December (16). Ward was one of two people killed in the incident, while two others were also shot.
His relatives claimed Meek’s material attracted “thug” fans to the show, while they also sued the venue’s owners and officials at Live Nation, for failing to provide better security.
Meek responded to the allegations in August (17), insisting he had nothing to do with the shooting, but earlier this month (Nov17) the plaintiffs demanded he answer their lawyer’s questions while under oath within 30 days.
Mill’s lawyers have now asked lawmakers to dismissed the suit to “avoid a waste of time and resource, (and) spare him from spending money to defend himself against meritless claims.”
His attorneys also argue the rapper shouldn’t be held responsible for an incident that happened outside of his concert. And they are citing Bruce Springsteen in their argument, according to TheBlast.com.
“If a woman was hit by a drunk driver outside a Bruce Springsteen concert, could she sue Springsteen based on the allegation that he failed to warn the venue that he knew that people like to drink at Springsteen concerts and that there had been drunk driving incidents after his concerts before? the legal filing reads. “Or could she sue Springsteen because his songs contain lyrics like, ‘Well I got some beer and the highway’s free?'”
Meek Mill, real name Robert Williams, is currently serving a two-to-four-year prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation relating to a 2008 drug and gun bust. He checked in to prison earlier this month.
