Mel B to Pay Ex $6.5 million After Reaching Divorce Deal

Mel B has agreed to pay her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte $6.5 million after the pair finally reached a deal in their divorce battle.

The former Spice Girls star and the producer signed off on the new agreement earlier this month (Nov17), but details of the financial deal have only just emerged.

According to reports, Mel will pay Stephen $3 million in spousal support over three years, as well as $3.5 million from the sale of their former marital home.

As part of the deal, Stephen has also agreed to destroy explicit videos he owns of him and Mel in the bedroom.

Mel is giving him a lot less than people think,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “Her lawyers got him locked down to destroy the explicit videos, which he claimed showed her engage in sexual acts under the influence allegedly of drugs and alcohol.

“Should he ever break that deal, he would be on the line for millions.” The publication adds that Mel has spent approximately $500,000 on lawyers’ fees while she and Stephen have been embroiled in their legal row for the past eight months.

Neither Mel nor Stephen will pay child support, but they will share joint legal custody of their six-year-old daughter, Madison. The former couple has also agreed to schedule a physical custody plan, so the parents will continue to play a major role in her life.
