Michael Ray apologises to fans after DUI arrest

Country singer Michael Ray has apologised to his fans after being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) following a fender bender in Florida early on Wednesday (20Dec17).
The Think a Little Less star had been waiting in the drive-thru line at a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in the city of Eustis at around 3am local time when his 2012 Jeep bumped into the car in front of him.
Police were called to the scene, where Michael insisted his foot had simply slipped off the brake pedal. However, the official police report noted that the musician allegedly smelt of alcohol and stumbled as he exited his car. His bloodshoot eyes and slurred speech also sparked concern among officers, and led to them conducting a series of sobriety tests, which Ray failed.
He was taken into custody and booked for DUI, as well as possession of weed oil, which was reportedly found during a search of his belongings.
Now Ray has released a statement in which he has apologised for his actions, telling People.com: “I want to apologise to my fans, family, and my hometown community for placing myself in this situation. I am so very sorry for the disappointment these events have caused everyone. I know it will take time; however, I will do everything I can to rebuild your trust.”
