Mike Shinoda on life after ‘devastating’ death of Chester Bennington

Mike Shinoda opened up about life after the “devastating” loss of his Linkin Park bandmate Chester Bennington.
The rocker’s released a new live album, One More Night Live, on Friday (15Dec17), and it’s their first release since the 41-year-old frontman took his own life in July (17).
Linkin Park were only able to play 21 dates of their One More Night tour before Bennington’s death and Shinoda told Billboard it was through the support of fans and friends that encouraged them to release the live album.
“All six of us in the band were so proud of the shows on the One More Night Tour,” he said. “Everyone was at their very best, especially Chester. He was singing better than I’ve ever heard him on stage. The idea to release this album came from our fans and friends, and I’m so glad they asked for it. It’s a really nice way to showcase what a special experience each night was.”
The rockers last performed at a tribute concert for Bennington in October (17) and Shinoda revealed the future of the band is unknown as they all try to deal with their bandmate’s tragic death.
“And while I don’t know what comes next for us together or individually, this album is certainly a beautiful way of looking back at the body of work we created with Chester,” he explained.
Shinoda added: “Grief is a non-linear process,” he writes. “It doesn’t have ‘stages’ that go in order, it has phases that come and go at random… So I’ve tried to make it a point to share how I’m doing, mostly on Instagram and sometimes Twitter, especially when I feel like I’m making progress.
“Coping with the end of this chapter is obviously devastating, but at the same time, it’s also the beginning of the next story.”
