Ne-Yo invests in technology school for software engineers

Singer Ne-Yo has invested in technology academy Holberton School in an effort to boost education opportunities among minorities in the industry.
The school was established last year (16) and it offers programmes for full-stack software engineers. Tuition is free at the academy and there are no formal teachers. If students agree to pay a percentage of their salaries for three years after securing employment they do not pay for the two-year programme. If they do not land employment, they do not pay.
In addition to investing in the school, the So Sick singer has also joined the board to help promote diversity in the industry, according to Billboard.
“I believe that a major key to success in life is the presence of opportunity,” he says. “Tech is an ever-growing, evolving industry, and I want to assist in opening doors for people across the country. Holberton School is in a unique position to train people of all backgrounds to lead in the digital age. I couldn’t be more excited about Holberton’s mission and model.”
