Producers behind Brad Pitt’s new movie supportive of his decision to skip press

Movie producers behind Brad Pitt’s new film Voyage of Time are urging fans to see the film and not focus on his split from Angelina Jolie.
The Fury star’s estranged wife filed for divorce from him earlier this month (Sep16) after two years of marriage and the fall-out from their split is clearly having a professional impact on the 52-year-old, who chose not to make an appearance on the red carpet when the documentary he narrates made its debut on Wednesday (28Sep16).
Praising director Terrence Malick’s work on the project, Pitt released a statement to Access Hollywood explaining his reasons for staying away.
“Terrence’s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time,” he wrote. “I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”
Producer Sophokles Tasioulis is supporting Brad in his decision and hopes moviegoers will focus on the film and not the actor’s personal issues.
“I can understand Brad in many ways,” Tasioulis says. “Right now he’s in a very difficult situation personally. We want people to come here for the movie, not for what is going on behind the scenes and Brad’s personal life. I think it was a good decision by him and we all respect his privacy.”
Jolie’s decision to leave Pitt, the father of her six children, shocked the world, including some of the former couple’s closest friends and loved ones, like her father Jon Voight.
When asked on Tuesday morning (27Sep16) if he thought there was a possibility the estranged pair would reconcile, Voight noted he along with other family and friends are hoping for the best.
Jon told X17 Online. “We’re all saying our little prayers, and wanting to be of help.”
