Robbie Williams sent to intensive care after doctors discovered brain ‘abnormalities’

Singer Robbie Williams planned to “soldier” through his sudden health problems and continue performing before doctors discovered brain abnormalities.
The British pop star was forced to cancel a string of shows in Russia in September (17) when he suddenly fell ill while performing in Zurich, Switzerland.
“My left arm went numb and I couldn’t stop dribbling out of the side of my mouth,” he tells U.K. newspaper The Sun. “I had a headache and I was also having trouble breathing. I couldn’t get a full breath.”
Although a doctor on site gave him the OK to complete the concert, Robbie struggled.
“After the show, my arm was still numb and my mouth was still dribbling,” he recalls. “I saw myself as a soldier. I needed to finish what I’d started, and I was going to go to Russia for the final two shows no matter what shape I was in.”
However, the 43-year-old’s plans came to a halt after he flew home to London to undergo emergency medical tests.
“I had blood tests done, and I had various scans including ones of my heart and my brain, and there were some abnormalities found, including something on my brain that looked like blood,” he explains. “That was obviously very scary, so the decision was taken out of my hands and I was sent straight to the intensive care unit.”
Williams remained in intensive care for seven days without the comfort of his wife Ayda Field, who was with the couple’s two children in America at the time.
“She couldn’t see me, and there I was in a little bed, attached to tubes,” the Bodies hitmaker adds.
When he finally received approval from doctors to get on a plane a week later, Robbie was told to take it easy and do nothing stressful.
He has since given his life a health makeover, adopting yoga, pilates, and a more vegetarian diet.
“The whole experience gave me a real scare, because I’ve been in some dark places before, but back then I was 23, or I was 27, or I was 32,” he admits. “Once you’ve been on the planet for 43 years, you realise that, even if you’ve got everything that I have, you’re not invincible. So from now on I’m going to look after myself a lot more carefully.”
