Rooney Mara: ‘Christmas at my family’s home is hectic’

Actress Rooney Mara feels overwhelmed when she’s home for the holidays because there’s always so many people there.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star’s father Timothy, whose family founded the New York Giants football team, is one of 11 children, and each year the whole clan gathers for Christmas at his home. While Mara enjoys spending time with her family, she is beginning to find one tradition exceedingly awkward.
“Since I was a baby, they have a Santa Claus come… and we all have to sit on his lap and we each get one present,” she tells U.S. late night host Jimmy Fallon, “but I had to sit on his lap until I was, like, 23 years old. All (my) uncles think it’s pretty funny and they all yell out inappropriate jokes.”
Mara’s mother, Kathleen, is also football royalty – her family established the Pittsburgh Steelers.
