Rudimental stars borrow equipment to perform at festival after flight chaos

Electronic stars Rudimental were forced to borrow equipment from fellow musicians to play at a music festival in Northern Ireland on Friday (24May13) after flight disruptions at London’s Heathrow Airport left them without instruments. Two runways were closed after an emergency plane landing, and a number of flights were delayed as a result of the chaos, leaving many artists facing a race against time to travel to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend event in Derry.
The Saturdays and Rita Ora were among the acts caught up in the chaos, while Angel Haze and Alunageorge were forced to pull the plug on performances.
Rudimental made it to the site in Derry to take to the stage as planned, but they had to use equipment which was already there.
Producer Amir Amor tells BBC’s Newsbeat, “We had to borrow stuff from Chase and Status and Angel Haze but we pulled it out the bag. We borrowed guitars, bass, microphones, a bit of love! Everything we could. But the gig just blew us away.”
