Samuel L. Jackson donates cleaning supplies to Hurricane Harvey relief drive

Samuel L. Jackson and his wife Latanya Richardson are helping Beyonce’s mother collect cleaning supplies for the survivors of Hurricane Harvey.
Historic flooding in cities across southern Texas, like Beyonce’s native Houston and Corpus Christi, forced thousands to flee their residences after the storm struck in late August (17), and with the recovery effort fully underway, the singer’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson has launched a charity drive to help locals clean up their homes and businesses as they try and rebuild their lives.
Tina is using North Hollywood’s Where Art Can Occur (WACO) Theater Center, which she opened with her actor husband Richard Lawson earlier this year (17), as a base to organise the household items before having them transported to Texas.
She announced the news via social media on Wednesday (13Sep17), and hours later, her friends Samuel and LaTanya pulled up to the theatre with a truck full of supplies.
Tina shared a video of the “humble” couple unloading their vehicle on Instagram, and captioned it, “Our more than generous friends, Sam Jackson and Latayna Richardson Jackson brought by a truck load of supplies to donate to the cleaning supply drive sponsored by Waco Theatre Center… I love and appreciate them soo much ! So down to earth (sic)!!!”
In a follow-up clip, the actors expressed their heartfelt sympathies to those recovering from the hurricane and sent out a plea for others to donate cleaning equipment, too.
“We’re starting to help with the clean up… to let the people in Texas, in Houston especially, to let the people know that we are here, we are working with you as fellow Americans who care,” said LaTanya. “We’re all in this together. We love you.
“So, if you can just get your supplies to the WACO Theater, we’ll get it on a truck and get it to Texas. Thanks Tina and thanks Richard.”
“Real solutions for a real problem… Glad we could help,” continued The Hateful Eight star Samuel, before addressing the hurricane survivors by adding, “Hey, keep your head up, keep your spirits up. Our hearts are with you.”
Tina’s new charity drive comes days after she joined her superstar daughter in Houston last week (08Sep17) to deliver other much-needed items to locals and serve food at their former church on behalf of Beyonce’s BeyGood foundation, which is providing support on the ground in the city.
