Selena Quintanilla series heading to Netflix

A TV series about late Latin music star Selena Quintanilla is in development by bosses at Netflix.
Selena: The Series will be written and executive produced by Moises Zamora and is being described as a “coming of age story following Selena as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music.”
Selena’s relatives are also working on the project, for which her father Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and sister Suzette Quintanilla will serve as executive producers.
“Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory,” Suzette says. “With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives.
“We are excited to partner with (production company) Campanario (Entertainment) and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come.”
This isn’t the only show involving Selena in the works – journalist Maria Celeste Arraras is adapting her book El Secreto de Selena for a screen project, and Abraham and his former son-in-law, Chris Perez, are currently locked in a legal battle over the guitarist’s planned TV show, which will be inspired by his book To Selena With Love.
Abraham and Suzette are also producing a TV series based on Selena’s music for bosses at American network NBC. The untitled family drama will be written and executive produced by Miguel Nolla and Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun. It will centre on pop star Alex Guerra, who returns home to Texas to deal with a crisis, and finds herself having to juggle a love triangle, her career, and her family’s dark secrets.
However, the show will not be biographical in nature and it is unclear how Selena will be tied to the storyline.
