Shirley Bassey lands 80th birthday TV special

Dame Shirley Bassey will celebrate her 60-year career with a BBC TV special ahead of her 80th birthday.
The Goldfinger singer turns 80 on 8 January (17) and BBC executives have announced they will be broadcasting a one-hour special over Christmas (16) to celebrate her life and career as she approaches the milestone.
Her pal David Walliams will host the special, titled David Walliams Celebrates Dame Shirley Bassey, which will feature a mix of performances of her classics, backed with a live studio orchestra, plus interviews, comedy moments and surprises.
“I’m excited to be recording a TV special alongside David Walliams and the BBC ” Bassey said in a statement. “This will mark two very special milestones for me – an occasion not to miss! We just need to work out how to fit a 60 year career into 60 minutes!”
“As a lifelong fan of Dame Shirley I am thrilled to be making a television special with her,” Walliams adds. “It really is a dream come true. Whenever Dame Shirley and I are together we laugh a great deal, so I am hoping this will be a hugely entertaining show.”
