Singer Mel Tillis’ funeral set for Monday

Country legend Mel Tillis will be laid to rest at a funeral in Tennessee on Monday (27Nov17).
The Good Woman Blues singer passed away on 19 November (17) at a medical centre in Ocala, Florida.
The 85-year-old had been battling intestinal issues since last year (16), but is suspected to have died from respiratory failure.
Fans have since been invited to join Tillis’ loved ones for a service at the Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church in Silver Springs, Florida on Saturday (25Nov17), ahead of a visitation for the star at Sykes Funeral Home in Clarksville, Tennessee on Monday (27Nov17), with a public funeral held that afternoon at Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
A private burial will take place after the memorial.
Mourners have been asked not to take photos or film the ceremonies out of respect for Tillis’ family, which includes his country singer daughter Pam Tillis.
Devotees unable to attend the events will have another chance to bid their final farewells to the star in January (18), when his relatives plan to host a big public celebration of Tillis’ life in Nashville, Tennessee.
