Sir Elton John to receive France’s top honour ahead of Paris gig

Sir Elton John will receive France’s Legion d’Honneur medal from President Emmanuel Macron when the rocker arrives in Paris for his final French shows later this month (Jun19).
The Rocketman star will pick up the nation’s highest civilian honour ahead of his performance at the French capital’s AccorHotels Arena on 20 June, as his Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour hits France.
Announcing the honour, President Macron called Sir Elton “a piano virtuoso” and “a true showman”, who is “one of the first gay artists to have the courage to say it and to give voice to the LGBT community in the media”.
Sir Elton’s farewell tour began in Pennsylvania in September, 2018. He will wrap up the massive final tour at London’s O2 Arena on 16 December, 2020.
