Soccer legend Pele has been hospitalised in his native Brazil after collapsing on Thursday morning (18Jan18).
The 77-year-old’s medical drama was sparked by exhaustion, according to TMZ.
As a result of his hospital stay, the sports icon will miss a Football Writers Association gala he was scheduled to host in London on Sunday (21Jan18).
A statement from the FWA reads: “He remains on fluids while doctors monitor his recovery. Thankfully, there is no suggestion of anything more serious than exhaustion.”
