Soul group The Masqueraders plot comeback on America’s Got Talent

Veteran soul group The Masqueraders are planning a return to the charts following a successful audition on U.S. reality show America’s Got Talent.
The 1960s stars decided to try their luck for season 12 of the hit series, and their performance for judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Mel B aired this week (begs26Jun17).
Asked by music mogul Simon why they wanted to appear on America’s Got Talent, they replied, “We never stopped dreaming.”
The trio then launched into a cover of Sam Cooke’s classic A Change Is Gonna Come, wowing all four panellists, and earning the band a place in the next round of the competition, which offers up a $1 million (£773,000) grand prize.
The Masqueraders previously tasted chart success in 1968 with I Ain’t Got To Love Nobody Else, which reached number 57 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, but their careers subsequently suffered a setback due to racial tensions with their label, reports Billboard.com.
