Stephen Dorff sets up memorial fund for late brother

Actor Stephen Dorff is helping to preserve the legacy of his late brother Andrew by launching a memorial fund in honour of the country songwriter.
Andrew Dorff, who had penned hits for the likes of Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw, died unexpectedly while celebrating his 40th birthday on vacation in Turks & Caicos last December (16).
To mark the first anniversary of his loss, Stephen and their father, composer Steve Dorff, have teamed up to establish the Andrew Marshall Dorff Memorial Fund, which will raise money to support a songwriting scholarship in the tragic musician’s name at Tennessee’s Belmont University. Donations will also be used to support medical research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Few details are known about the circumstances surrounding Andrew’s passing, but earlier this year (17), Stephen revealed his younger brother had been drinking with friends by a jacuzzi.
The Blade star told veteran U.S. newsman Larry King, “Andrew was splashing around trying to cool off with some friends, and somebody spotted him lying on his back not moving.”
The actor stopped short of sharing further information about his brother’s cause of death.
